ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses how to use definite and indefinite adjectives and adverbs of direction and location. It discusses also about housing in Norway, including rooms and furniture and use colours to describe things. Colloquial Norwegian provides a step-by-step course in Norwegian as it is written and spoken today. Colloquial Norwegian will be an indispensable resource both for independent learners and students taking courses in Norwegian. Adjectives must agree in form and number with the nouns or pronouns they describe. Although there are many special rules and exceptions, the basic rule is that adjectives describing masculine and feminine nouns are in the base form but -t is added to make it neuter, and -e is added to make the plural form, regardless of gender. The indefinite form is used whether the adjective is used before an indefinite noun or in the predicate. In Norway as a whole, most people live in single-family homes, duplexes or row houses.
