ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses how to use time expressions, s-verbs, verbs in the past tense, inverted word order and prepositions. Colloquial Norwegian provides a step-by-step course in Norwegian as it is written and spoken today. Combining a user-friendly approach with a thorough treatment of the language, it equips learners with the essential skills needed to communicate confidently and effectively in Norwegian in a broad range of situations. Verbs ending in -s sometimes have a reciprocal meaning. Strong verbs have a vowel change in the root. These verbs must simply be memorized. Here are some of the most common ones. A more complete list is found at the end of the reference grammar. The past tense is used for actions that occurred at a specific time in the past or repeated actions in the past. In business letters, it is common to omit the salutation and simply begin the text after the inside address.
