ABSTRACT

One of the most positive respondents was Dan Buckley, deputy head teacher of Saltash.net Community College, a fellow of Education Impact and the creator of Personalization by Pieces. One person deeply involved in research into mobile technology for learning, and over a significant period of time, is Elizabeth Hartnell-Young, who is director of the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) Institute and is also well known for her work in this area with the University of Nottingham's Learning Sciences Research Institute (LSRI). Professor Stephen Heppell pointed out that he first worked with mobile phones and learners back in the early 1990s, and although many schools were now more open to the idea there was still a problem. Mal Lee's interest in mobile technology was in the bring your own technology (BYOT) approach, where everyone is already familiar with their devices, which obviates the need for training in that area.
