ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book focuses on observation and assessment, and its role in the learning and development of young children. One of the best ways of becoming an acute and perceptive observer is to try and evaluate what one offer the children, and their parents and carers. Mary Jane Drummond reminds people that, in order to make their an offer of quality they need to know something about what is thought about how children develop and learn. The book examines the resources people are able to provide and the activities or projects they offer. It considers the interactions people and the other adults have with the children. The book also examines how people and their colleagues communicate with parents and carers.
