ABSTRACT

This chapter explains what is mean by networked participatory scholarship and describes the relationships between technology and scholarship. The Great River Road they call it a network of local, state, and federal roads that showcase the beauty of the states bordering the Mississippi River. Social media the technologies which have come to represent online networks in the twenty-first century have become part of the fabric of contemporary societies and the educational systems. Individual scholars' networked activities further illustrate this point: in recent years numerous scholars have engaged in using technological tools in their research, classrooms, and personal lives in ways that differ from twentieth-century paradigms of scholarship. The movement to develop expanded definitions of scholarship comes in response to a widespread over-reliance upon strict notions of scientific research within universities to define scholarly practice. The history of scholarship is largely intertwined with the history of technological innovation, as well as social and religious development.
