ABSTRACT
In this fi lm directed by Ridley Scott, over a montage of the wreckage of Somali society, the camera records the carnage of the civil war in Somalia. Saturday, October 2, 1993: Militia forces loyal to warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid stop the distribution of food to Somali citizens by the Red Cross. Civilians are shot down and the food is declared the property of Aidid. As an American helicopter with a sniper on board fl ies overhead but the pilot receives orders to stand down and avoid intervening.
