ABSTRACT
The fi lm begins with Sam Houston (Richard Boone) seeking out Jim Bowie (Richard Widmark) to assume command of the Alamo. Bowie is ill, drunk actually, so Houston hands command of the militia over to William Barrett Travis (Laurence Harvey). After Travis takes command of the fort, Bowie and his men arrive to declare that Mexican general Santa Ana and 7000 soldiers are closing in on San Antonio.
