In this 1942 fi lm directed by John Farrow, an opening title card promises a factual and accurate depiction of the fall of Wake Island drawn from “USMC records.” The card also compares Wake Island to other dark days in American military history: Valley Forge, the Little Big Horn, and the Lost Battalion.
