ABSTRACT

Josie is a 15-year-old Japanese-American who has just found out that she is two months pregnant. The father of the baby is Josie’s 17-year-old boyfriend of one year. They both are in high school, have a lot of friends, and are doing well in their classes. Josie’s parents are first-generation Americans and hold conservative views on family, dating, marriage, religion, and roles for family members. For this reason, Josie is afraid of how her parents will react if they find out she is pregnant. In fact, her parents do not even know she has been dating.
