ABSTRACT

This conclusion chapter provides some of the closing thoughts of the book. The book attempts, in the studies of democratization, to integrate in a systematic way both structural and agency approach in the analysis of regime transition. It demonstrates that what extent the theories of democratization can account for sub-national political development, and how much of sub-national regional processes can be explained by theories originated from cross-national studies. It also addresses the consequences of democratization through investigation into the impacts of democracy as dependent by the agency. The analysis presented in the book is in line with literature stating that the relationship between democracy and religiosity in the post-Communist world are not the same as in the Western consolidated democracies. Thus, the book contributes new findings to the discussion on identity formation and religiosity as part of the outcomes of the regime transition in the post-Communist world.
