ABSTRACT
Discussion is central to the teaching of citizenship: not only as a teaching method, but also
as a learning goal and as a form of active citizenship in its own right.
The aim of this chapter is to help you understand the role of discussion in citizenship and
learn how to plan, conduct and assess successful discussions in the classroom.
