Geography underpins a lifelong ‘conversation’ about the earth as the home of humankind.

This chapter will introduce you to geography as a discipline, illustrate its changing nature

within the curriculum and how its relationship with citizenship may be mutually beneficial

to learners. citizenship teachers often incorporate their subject across the humanities

either through a cross-curricular approach to learning, or by teaching discrete subjects like

geography. This chapter will help you in both of these endeavours.
