ABSTRACT

Ideally, it should be possible to create a sloper with a perfect fit, although that’s not absolutely guaranteed. A large number of different measurements are needed in order to achieve complete accuracy, and attempting to do that can be overwhelming for the beginning costumer/sewer. The purpose of this chapter is to serve as an easy guide that will allow beginners to draft very basic starting patterns, and give both them and more advanced sewers a foundation that can then be built on. Experienced cutters or stitchers usually have a set of these slopers gathered over the years that they then only have to adjust slightly according to the measurements of their clients. It’s good to store your patterns carefully to re-use in the future (and make certain that they are clearly labeled).
