ABSTRACT

When looking at the extant body of literature, however, one observes great heterogeneity of purpose and perspective, which stems in part from the multi-faceted nature of Corporate Entrepreneurship but also from the persistence of unsolved "definitional issues". This chapter presents the main streams of the scholarly production on Corporate Entrepreneurship and discusses their relations to the fields of Intrapreneurship and Corporate Venturing. It reviews some of the definitions of Corporate Entrepreneurship, pointing at their merits and shortcomings, and clarifies our own position. The chapter suggests that, they are, in fact, almost synonymous and, as a result, the topic of Corporate Entrepreneurship cannot be fully embraced without perusing the adjacent fields of Intrapreneurship and Internal Corporate Venturing. The literature on Corporate Entrepreneurship is characterised by a great heterogeneity of purpose and perspective which stems, in part, from the multi-faceted nature of Corporate Entrepreneurship but also from the persistence of unsolved "definitional issues".
