ABSTRACT

TheLateBronzeAgeinnorthernEuropeisnotdramaticallydistinct fromtheEarlyBronzeAge,butitismarkedbytheopening-upofnew landsforagriculture,bythedevelopmentoflargersettlementsand cemeteries,byawiderdistributionofmetalwork,andbythedeliberate disposalofvaluableobjects.ThetransitionfromtheEarlytotheLate BronzeAgeis,however,indistinct,andthereseemslittleevidencefor anyoutsidestimulusorinternalupheavalthatmighthavecausedan abruptchangeintheevolutionofsocietyintheclosingcenturiesofthe secondmillennium.
