If you say ‘murder is wrong’, one question to ask is: why is it wrong? Come up with as many explanations as you can of why murder is wrong.
In philosophy of religion there is a classical problem called the Euthyphro dilemma which comes from the writings of Plato. The key point of the dilemma is a question that Socrates raises about how goodness is defined: Is an action ‘good’ because:
1 God commands it, or 2 What is good, God commands?
