Introduction

These three simple aspects of neonatal care are still sadly lacking in many neonatal units across North America and Western Europe. It is clear that they can be done safely and satisfactorily on units not only in sOcio-economically privileged communities, but can be done equally safely and just as successfully in the third world. Therein lies an important message for us all.
