ABSTRACT

REBT therapists try to model themselves after Albert Ellis before developing their own more authentic therapeutic style. There are many effective REBT styles and it is worthwhile to study carefully the recordings in the Albert Ellis Institute DVD library. The stated goal of these recordings is to acquaint people with the different styles of various experienced REBT therapists so that they can develop their own personal style of conducting REBT. In this respect, we also recommend a book edited by one of WD in which leading REBT therapists outline their idiosyncratic practice of REBT. Some REBT therapists also try to model themselves after Ellis's work pattern. It is a serious error and potentially unhealthy for therapists who have a different temperament and who have different priorities in life to try to emulate Ellis on this point.
