ABSTRACT

This chapter provides valuable advice for the performing artist such as an actor, dancer, lighting guru, costumer, or stagehand, on investing, saving, and building a diversified and stable financial portfolio. It also provides unique strategies for integrating financial awareness and planning into the life as an artist, and how that can help to provide a better sense of financial security. In the initial year that the Thriving Artists Investment Club focused on both understanding and investing in the financial markets as well as on determining how to best structure the club's meetings. The commercial art versus high art drama was another theme that arose, which is an ideological minefield that has a monetary aspect to it. There are plenty of examples of art that is at the height of creativity in its field that still manages to make a lot of money.
