ABSTRACT

This chapter intends to share how documentation approach to early learning and its implementation is currently impacting on children, parents and families, educators and early year's staff teams, communities and policy. Children learning are being made more visible through photographs, dialogue and the visual presentations of the process and outcomes of documenting children's learning. This includes images and transcripts of children and adults as collaborators in learning which are made available on walls inside and outside, in folders and on laptops and slideshows. More meaningful connections were being made between home and nursery, which supported children's interests and learning across the contexts of both home and nursery. Early educators, parents and families talked about children's increased enthusiasm in sharing and expanding their interests and learning at home. Educators have deeper insights and understandings and increased awareness of how and what children are learning, children's interests, talents and abilities, how to listen to children and to value listening.
