ABSTRACT

Drama is an activity that can encourage friendships, which might otherwise never have occurred. Action songs are usually the most successful way to end a session with this age group and a circle ensures that all children feel equally valued and secure in the knowledge that they have their own place to sit or stand. Peer group classes in schools and early year's settings may enjoy ring games and many parents also find them easy to relate to when attending a private class. These games are valuable for encouraging confidence and social skills, form part of our children's heritage. Save one or two songs that have become the children's favourites, as they may become tired and need that encouragement to stay with the group right to the end. Parents, families and friends enjoy an opportunity to see what their children have learned and they will wish to mark the leaving and moving on with a memorable event.
