ABSTRACT
Having warmed everybody up with a busy action song, it is a good idea to follow it immediately with a calmer one that may be more well-known but demands finer movements and heads to fit the song words. Before starting warming up session, encourage everybody to come together and sit comfortably in a circle, checking that every child can see and be seen by other members of the group. To start a session in a happy way and put everybody into a constructive and co-operative mood, one can use an action song. The song chosen may be familiar to the children or completely new, but it needs to be cheerful and invite enthusiastic joining in. The overall aim during the warming up period is to bring the group together, and to encourage each child to acquire the type of attitude and focused concentration that will enable them to derive maximum benefit from each activity and have fun together.
