ABSTRACT

The ability to realistically predict color and successfully apply it to images of things that do not exist is infinitely more difficult than replicating observable reality. Most people become frustrated with color because they do not appreciate the difficulty of this endeavor and haphazardly approach it without any strategy for success. The primary objective here is to provide methods for beginners to immediately use color in a competent way. As skills are developed, more ambitious color schemes can be attempted. However, do not be reluctant to begin with or return to the basics; even the best professionals – masters of color – will often use simple color strategies, not because they are easier to control, but because they yield evocative results.
