ABSTRACT

This concluding chapter draws together and reflects on the main issues and themes discussed in the book. It particularly directs attention to the role of research in advancing knowledge, policy and practices in examination physical education and the field more broadly. We utilise the key concepts presented in the introductory chapters as a guiding frame for re-visiting the contemporary issues that we have uncovered and critically examined with regard to curriculum, pedagogy and assessment. We highlight the convergences and divergences in these domains and consider what is needed to achieve greater conceptual, policy and pedagogical coherency in examination and senior secondary physical education and in PE across the years of schooling.
