ABSTRACT

The students learn to set and work toward goals, they need to be able to use data and information to assess their own work and adjust accordingly. Once students are able to assess their own strengths and opportunities, they need to learn to set goals. Students need to feel empowered to be able to look at their own work and determine better strategies for more successful attempts. Students should be given frequent and consistent opportunities to have conversations and discussions about the work they are doing. Common experiences that students are exposed to in class help form troubleshooting thinking. Students need to feel validated for their thinking but also be able to learn and adjust their thinking with each other too. Goal-setting ability to be self-aware is critical to learning as it helps students make meaningful and sound decisions about their own learning experiences.
