ABSTRACT

To create a fearless, idea-driven learning experience in one's classroom, implement the four Fearless Centers and place Fearless Question cards in each center to get students talking. The fearless classroom movement, students are simply prompts for fact regurgitation. Students consume information and respond with the facts in the form of a written response. As students learn to express their own thinking with confidence, this reflection skill will enhance their ability to not only identify and own their own thinking, but also be able to develop an empathetic view of the thinking of others. In conjunction with the fearless classroom approach of Curiosity, Imagination, Passion, and Adaptation (ICAP) Centers, here is a very engaging lesson. ICAP Centers can produce incredible technological expressions of a deep understanding of character traits. When learning about character traits in English Language Arts (ELAR), integrate character traits into science with pet rocks as well as characters in, for example, Patricia Polacco stories.
