ABSTRACT

Technology is an essential and critical component of one's classroom and is used in an organic and authentic way: as a tool to find information, synthesize content, and create learning evidence to ultimately 'beat the level'. Using technology creatively can easily transform your classroom into a game, including the idea of homework. Transforming one's classroom into a living video game was a response to knowing that engagement in the classroom is essential to learning and that challenges like those in games are what humans are wired to need. Using the ICAP rotation center for Passion, one can give their gamified classroom players a voice in their assessments. Using games in the classroom is another way to innovate and create an engaging learning environment. Using ready-made games online is a fantastic tool for assessing learning, inspiring student-created products, and enhancing learning.
