A regular day-time occupation, whether in the form of paid work, housework, study or voluntary work, is important. The right job for the right person provides a major source of self-esteem. It can provide pleasure, challenge and stimulation. People rarely feel positively about their job all the time, but they appreciate that their work gives them independence, a sense of purpose, and a daily routine.
