ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of the book. The book focuses on the tension field of separation and integration of concerns that is so typical for the complex world of networked e-business. It presents a three-dimensional space for the classification of e-business scenarios. It also presents the BOAT framework as a basis for distinguishing aspects of networked e-business in analysis or design. The BOAT framework is a conceptual tool aimed at separation of concerns as such; it is an aid to arrive at clarity. It is also reflected in the BOAT element dependency diagram (BEDD) technique. The integration of aspects is important in networked e-business to arrive at consistency in analysis or design. An iterative analysis or design approach that alternates between separation and integration can be used to deal with scenarios of high complexity. This overview illustrates the 'grand structures' of networked e-business according to this book.
