ABSTRACT

This chapter investigates the additional dimension that used for the analysis and design of the 'internals' of e-business scenarios: that of aspects of e-business. It describes the four e-business aspects that we find along this analysis dimension, making up the BOAT framework: business, organization, architecture and technology. The chapter introduces the aspects dimension of networked e-business to separate these elements in an e-business scenario. To model the fact that start at each BOAT aspect, we need to organize the BOAT aspects such that we get a more cyclical dependency among the aspects. These can be placed in a linear stack model or a cyclical wheel model. The stack model represents a one-shot approach from business requirements to technological implementation. The wheel model represents a cyclical approach, where the trigger can be in any of the four BOAT aspects. For most e-business scenarios, the wheel model is preferable over the stack model.
