ABSTRACT
This is a role that is already being undertaken by many players, including notably the ICLEI, the World Future Council, the Transition Towns Network and the C40 Mayors network. Some are working top down, while many, notably the hundreds of members of the Transition Towns Network around the world, are working from the bottom up. Together they are creating a gradually expanding patchwork of districts and communities that are becoming greener, reducing their ecological footprints in the process. This is a process that must be encouraged, and we can all play our part.
