ABSTRACT

This chapter celebrates the writing of teachers who are already members of National Writing Project UK (NWP UK) groups. Teachers write in order to think, to engage with memory and their inner selves, to record important events, to develop an argument, to create stories and shape poetry. The writing came from a session based on what people had in their pockets/a collection of something. The author was taken by the poetry of the signage before she could even enter the room. The title is a homage to a Regina Spektor song That Time which the author love and has a similar theme and structure. Writing the poem helped the author dispel an un-ease with the surroundings caused by his conspicuous absence. This poem is from a favourite writing session. She wrote about events on nights out with friends, in roughly chronological order, from my teenage years through university to the present.
