ABSTRACT

My own first venture into the realm of group-analytic inpatient psychotherapy was during my time at the Psychotherapy Department of Bonn University’s Neurological Hospital. The approach we followed there was bipolar in its thrust, but hands-on experience soon convinced me of the need to come up with an integrative treatment model. This is what I did and the result was put into practice at the Centre for Psychotherapy and Psychosomatic Medicine in Essen, where I spent nine years.
