ABSTRACT

After the very first set of interviews at Red Point High we talked together as a research team about ‘expectations’ and how teachers at this school shared a common professional language centred on high expectations for their students and for the school. Comments by teachers included:

We have high academic expectations for all children-which doesn’t mean that all children will get As-all students in this school will be expected to improve the way they work; all students should believe that school will be value-adding.
