ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses how Dooyeweerd’s philosophy might help to (a) engage with extant thought in the information systems field, and (b) to undertake research in that field. This prepares for the discussions in Part II, which lay foundations for understanding five areas relevant to the field. What is discussed might be applicable to other fields, providing insights, guidance and exemplars for those who wish to lay foundations in other fields.
