ABSTRACT

While economics is often thought of as the study of market value, ethics can be thought of as the study of moral value. Ethics is the study of the meaning of right versus wrong or moral versus immoral actions and the application of these concepts to everyday life. In Western thought, ethics dates back at least to the ancient Greeks, particularly Plato and Aristotle. General ethical principles operate at the personal and institutional levels and are, or should be, an important part of our lives as well as our policies.
