ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book explores the property market operation, arguing that it acts as a mediator through which urban economic potential can be realized and served. It discusses the development of a holistic research programme to conceptualize the property market as an institution and to adequately explore its position within the urban economy. The book describes an agenda for understanding the urban economic change and development through the study of the institutional structure and dynamics of the property market. It presents an overview of the philosophical position and the theoretical framework developed, critically discussing the arguments put forward and assessing their significance. The book analyses the analytical framework and associated research design to evaluate their strengths and weaknesses and to point out possible deficiencies and limitations in any prospective application. It concludes by assessing the importance of the research programme developed and provides directions for further research.
