This chapter examines the ways in which the strategies, policies and processes of development examined in earlier chapters impact on rural spaces of the Global South. Whilst the world officially became predominantly urban in 2007, this chapter details the continued challenges for some of the poorest groups of people worldwide and for securing the conservation of globally valued natural resources and resource functions.
