ABSTRACT

This chapter will look at actual teaching and learning activities. In particular it deals with: types of exercise and activity; team/group work; in-class activities vs. activities outside the class; support and mentoring. The chapter ends with some examples of contextualized teaching and learning activities for different stages and kinds of training. By the end of this chapter, you should be able to identify different kinds of teaching and learning activity applicable to translator training, and their usefulness at different stages of training. It has further commented on different kinds of teaching and learning activity, with emphasis on those appropriate for small groups. Issues relating to team work have been discussed in some detail; less traditional activities outside the classroom have been explicitly included in our repertoire of possible activities. Student presentations are popular on translator training programmes, often as a means of organizing a plenary session.
