ABSTRACT

Nansha New Area is located in the southern region of Guangzhou, the capital city of Guangdong. In September 2012, Nansha was mapped out as a new national development area and a new blueprint for Nansha New Area of Guangzhou by the Chinese central government. The central government's release of a number of regional development plans, along with various initiatives and preferential policies since 2008 has pressured Nansha will also be granted various new autonomous powers via the provincial government of Guangdong, as announced by Zhu Xiaodan, governor of Guangdong province. According to their individual state plans, the areas will be developed into three key platforms to stimulate the economic restructuring and industrial upgrading of Guangdong, and forge close cooperation with Hong Kong and Macao. The Guangdong government believes that these regions can take the lead in creating a new type of provincial development.
