ABSTRACT
By the end of the twentieth century, urbanists had developed a sophisticated set of theories and tools to understand and foster diversity, economic development, and opportunity. Simultaneously, a new concern with creating development patterns that would be sustainable for future generations was arising globally. As regional sustainability planning has emerged around the world, many regions have looked to established practices to develop a new, inclusive regionalism.
