ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book presents university internationalization as a process aimed at transforming the student experience in response to changes in the wider world. It is primarily about the students, about the challenges they face in their journeys through university and across their early adult years, and about the challenges we, as academic staff, must respond to if staffs are to support the students appropriately through and for these turbulent and uncertain times. The book refers frequently to the domestic-international student nexus, the issue really is one of equitable, respectful and inclusive educational practices and spaces which every student has a right to, and which form the bedrock of the development of the global student. It is the change for the students and change for staffs as those who guide the learning, and change demands a willingness to learn on the part of everybody.
