ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the effects on the primary (PLV) and secondary-level victims (SLV) from the Perth suburb of Kingsley. The chapter explored analysis of the interview data from the victims in Perth. First, a socio-demographic profile of the participants is presented; this is followed by a presentation of the interview data that came from the semi-structured interviews, which gives voice to the personal experiences of primary and secondary-level victims. The PLVs and SLVs received medical, counselling and spiritual and community support from a number of sources in varying amounts. In both groups the participants were provided a relatively high level of support from multiple sources, including financial, counselling, community, medical, and religious. The PLVs and SLVs interviewed were all connected to Kingsley Football Club, in the northern suburbs of Perth. The analysis, using the lenses of disrupted and reinforced resources, has revealed that the participants' experiences are not all negative and emotionally charged.
