ABSTRACT

Setting up, running and maintaining an early years Forest School is no small achievement. In the process of trialling a new experience for the children in one's care they are providing them with improved, exciting and stimulating experiences that may well go on to shape their future. These children will be confident, independent, self-assured, happy and busy. They will feel that their own ideas count, that they are important and valued. They will know that their attempts at new things are successes even if the outcome was not in their original plan. Forest School offers much to the people involved, but those people need to be receptive. The adults working with them will also increase in confidence, learn to enjoy the outdoors and find a new respect for their environment. Forest School offers much to the people involved, but those people need to be receptive.
