ABSTRACT
After a detour into Hohfield’s legalistic theory of rights, three contemporary philosophers’ theories of rights are expounded: H. L. A. Hart on the equal right of all to be free; Ronald Dworkin on rights as trumps; and Joseph Raz on rights, duties, and interests.
