It can be frustrating when progress in a game is interrupted by a cutscene. When done poorly, it feels like the designer walked into your living room, grabbed the controller, and said, “You’re not playing this right. Let me show you the cool parts!” Which is unfortunate, since the philosophy behind cutscenes is that they’re a reward for players-the moment, after everything they’ve done, when they see their actions rendered in full-cinematic animation, complete with partying Ewoks (or not).
