ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces the sources of international commercial sales. The relationship between different sources shall be under scrutiny, and the Convention for Contracts for the International Sale of Goods, known as the 1980 Vienna Convention or Convention on International Sales of Goods (CISG), will be also introduced as a possible source governing the sale contract if invoked by it. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods is a treaty that is a uniform international sales law. The federation's contracts incorporate a dispute procedure involving arbitration by experienced individuals from within the trade. Gafta protects its members' interests through standard forms of contract, alongside an internationally respected dispute resolution service offering both arbitration and mediation to parties using Gafta standard contracts. CPT terms entail that the seller pays for carriage. Risk transfers to the buyer upon handing goods over to the first carrier at the place of shipment in the country of export.
