ABSTRACT

This chapter examines one's aim to engage young people at the outset as 'co-producers' in the development of a framework for practice. Good youth work practice depends on using frameworks for practice that enable a comprehensive assessment of needs, effective planning, implementation and attention to review and evaluation. The chapter focuses on Sutton's interpretation of the Assessment, Planning, Implementing, Review, and Evaluation (ASPIRE) model which has been used to work with children, young people and families. The ASPIRE model has proved to be a useful tool in bringing investigate issues together, and as students engaged on placement, one very much hope it can be effectively applied to your own work. The chapter focuses on informal education demonstrated, these conversations are vital to developing our educational response. It explores approaches to evaluation in practice but desired outcomes can be considered at the planning stage.
