ABSTRACT

This chapter generates the tranquility required for reflecting on significant organizational issues. The brave sphere enables the leader to consider organizational situations and perspectives from a safe distance to promote the ability to reflect on and understand specific areas in detail and further enables the tensions to be experienced and understood prior to making a decision. The chapter examines three influence traps such Over-optimism, Narcissism and Fear in detail and provide examples of how the coach can work with the leader to explore and perhaps circumvent pathological responses. On considering important leaders in the organizational system the reader can understands the ability to direct energy and resources towards one area than another. Guided visualization techniques which help leaders to gain confidence have been outlined. The benefit of the sphere of sanctuary is that it gives the leader a metaphorical place to focus and become more self-aware.
