ABSTRACT
The wartime leaders of the USA, UK and the Soviet Union – Franklin D. Roosevelt, Winston Churchill and Joseph Stalin – met at Yalta in the Crimea to discuss the nature of Europe’s post-war reconstruction. These extracts emphasise that the outcome reflected the deep tensions that existed between the leaders of the Grand Alliance and signalled the Cold War that was to come .
